Charity begins @ home
Are you looking for a good local cause that not only assists at-risk children but also provides essential skills for parents? Cholmondeley does that.
Your donation of just $30 per month will make a major difference to us. Your contribution will help pay for:
- Professional child care staff on shift 7 days a week, 24 hours a day
- A full time family worker who works with families in the community to prevent crisis situations
- Care for young mothers who are having a difficult time with a new baby
- Education for parents about behaviour management, budgeting, hygiene, meal preparation and planning and child development
- Support in the community - via our six parent support groups.
This 24-hour specialised care costs $185 for each child per night. Where possible, parents contribute towards this cost. It all adds up to about $1.4 million per year for us to provide 24-hour specialist care and individual treatment programmes for children in need. Cholmondeley is a Registered Charitable Trust and receives only a small amount of its funding from the Government. The rest comes from the community.

How you can help Cholmondeley
- Actively promote our Charity Begins @ Home Program to family, friends, clients etc.
- Assist as a Volunteer Helper at our Events or Working Bees at Cholmondeley.
- Donate necessary items e.g. breakfast foods, toiletries, children's underwear etc.
- Purchase tickets for our Fundraising Events to entertain key clients & staff.
- Set up a Cholmondeley Donation Fund where staff donates a regular sum of money, matched by your organisation's contribution.
- Host your own Fundraising Event.
- Promote Cholmondeley's donations to client database.
- Forward "leads" of potential sponsors to Cholmondeley.
- Provide Cholmondeley the opportunity to network with and make presentations to your staff and clients.
The more public awareness Cholmondeley Children's Home receives the more chance we have of increasing our income, which is essential to continue to support Canterbury families and children in need.
