Cholmondeley Home School

The Cholmondeley Home School emphasises literacy, numeracy and teaching children essential skills, with the belief that adaptive behaviour and the core curriculum are the grand hallway through which their future can be accessed. Each week the children think about what their dream class will look and feel like. This is recorded and becomes the basis of our school rules. The children all sign this.

After this the children choose 'golden pay' as we use the analogy of school being their job. At the end of the week, if they have helped make our school classes, dream classes each day, they then earn their 'golden pay'.

Teachers: Full-time teachers are all highly qualified and skilled in teaching children with special education needs, assisted by teacher aids.

Funding: Funded by the Ministry of Education on a notional roll of 26 children.

Classes: There are two multi-level classes

Roll: We are funded on a notional roll of 26 children. There are occasional day pupils.

Curriculum: We follow the New Zealand Curriculum.
