COVID-19 Update - Cancelling Little Gems Awareness Month 2020

Like many organisations across New Zealand we want to make sure Cholmondeley Children’s Centre is doing all that it can to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Due to the present circumstances and based on what we know today, we have made the decision to cancel our Little Gems Awareness month which was due to be held throughout May 2020.

We hope that you have settled into Alert Level 4 lockdown and are finding routines for you and those in your bubble. We are all finding a new way of working and whilst our doors are still closed we are working hard in the background to ensure we are ready to get back on site when we can.

We realise that the current lockdown is only forecasted to last for a couple more weeks, but just like yourselves we don’t know what the immediate future looks like. We are deeply saddened by having to make this decision, but at the same time we know we are making this decision to ensure we can keep ourselves and those involved safe.

This month is really important to Cholmondeley for many reasons:

  •  It lets us and you get our sparkle on and launch our awareness month in style.
  •  It is an opportunity for us to share with the wider community who we are, what we do and literally ‘hit the streets’ to raise money for the children of Canterbury
  • It allows us to get involved with schools and have fun with our denim and diamonds mufti-day
  • BUT most of all it is a month where we are lucky to raise $100,000 to ensure that we can continue to offer emergency and respite care for the 500 families in times of stress or crisis

Cancelling this event is big for us but we also know it is important to think about the bigger picture at this time - keep an eye on our social media channels to keep up to date with what we are still doing.
