COVID-19 Update

COVID-19

Cholmondeley remains deeply committed to supporting our whanau and tamariki by continuing to provide planned respite care. COVID-19 is presenting some very challenging circumstances for everyone and Cholmondeley is no different.

Sadly our amazing group of international volunteers have all been requested to return to their homelands leaving Cholmondeley in desperate need of new volunteers so we can continue serving Canterbury children and their families, ideally you will have 2 years working with children and available now to partner with Cholmondeley, is this you? Contact us now at info@cholmondeley.org.nz

As a result of having lost our volunteers we are altering our intake days and departure times. For those who have existing bookings over the next 4 weeks, one of our caring staff will be in contact with you to discuss any required adjustments to your planned stay at Cholmondeley.

We are working closely with Oranga Tamariki, the Ministry of Education and the community to continue to monitor and respond to the situation and take whatever steps we can to resume normal services as soon as we are able to.

New referral

If you are interested in finding out more about a new referral , here are the four steps towards a tamariki having a stay with us:

Step 1: Please call our Referral phone number on 03 329 9832 to talk to one of our friendly whanau team about the living situation of the tamariki

Step 2: If we feel that we are the right service for the tamariki, we will invite you to fill out our New Referral form, please do so with as much information as possible

Step 3: We will be in touch within 5 working days to update you on where we are at in the New Referral process

Step 4: In order to make our tamariki feel as welcome as possible, as part of our haere mai (welcome) process, we invite them and their caregiver in for a visit to our centre in Governors Bay

Please note that there is a lot of demand on our service and we deal with emergency referrals, so time frames may vary.
